An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Control Systems Engineer to join Boart Longyear’s Global Research and Development (R&D) team. In this role you’ll be a pivotal part in the development of Boart Longyear’s latest intelligent electric over hydraulic drilling machines.As a member of the Global R&D team, you will join a team of industry experts from around the world developing state of the art exploration drilling rigs and technologies. The role is based in the Adelaide office but will require some field work to support the testing and development phase of the projects.
After this you will continue to support and develop the rigs as they move into production and roll out to field locations around the globe. This is an exciting time to join Boart Longyear as we continue to lead the way in Drilling technologies.
Want to know a little more about the role? Day-to-day duties include: You will take part in the software and electrical design on assigned projects.
Work within multi-disciplinary project teams consisting of Mechanical, Electrical and Hydraulic Engineers.Research new and emerging technologies for integration into Boart Longyear’s machines.
Contribute to the global software foundation framework.
Follow first prototype rigs to the field to continue to test, develop and refine under real world operating conditions.
Solicit testing feedback from operators on-site and implement design improvements as required.
Offer design expertise and mentoring to other members of the engineering team with respect to software and electrical systems.
A few other things we’re looking for: Degree qualified in either Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering with 3 + years of experience.
PLC Software and control system development experience required. Experience using CODESYS is desirable.Understanding of machine safety concepts in control systems and associated standards is desirable. Additional training will be offered as required.
Mechanical aptitude is required and a basic understanding of electric over hydraulic systems is desirable.
A willingness to learn and challenge the norm is essential.
Flexibility to travel to remote mine sites as required.
An ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
